Lonnie Hanzon Studios presents the Trash Fashion Show to kick-off Denver Pride Week and raise funds to support the work of The GLBT Community Center of Colorado (The Center). Fans of Project Runway’s unconventional materials challenge will absolutely love this event, so trashay your way to Exdo Events Center on June 9 for one trashy night of fashion and fun.
Enjoy bold and innovative fashion designs featuring extraordinary designers using reclaimed materials used in inventive ways. Designers will compete in categories such as “Little Black Dress” (fashion made entirely from black trash bags) or “White Trash” (fashion created from discarded white materials). Whatever your fashion taste, Denver designers bring your trashiest fantasies to life. Following the show, the party will continue over at Tracks Nightclub where attendees receive free entry to shake their groove thing all night long.
With the rise of fast fashion and globalization, the fashion industry has become one of the top contributers to global waste each year. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 15.1 million tons of textile waste was generated in 2013 alone, of which 12.8 million tons were discarded, and the numbers are only increasing. The Trash Fashion Show is dedicated to spreading awareness of global waste through the art of recycling, upcycling, and DIY.
Tickets are $25-$150. VIP packages available.
The show is still looking for designers, models of all genders and body types, photographers, makeup/hair stylists, motion graphics designers, and set builders. If you are interested in participating in the Trash Fashion Show, you can apply here.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Please contact Rex Fuller, VP of Communications & Corporate Giving at The Center, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-733-7743, ext. 115.
